Horseback Riding
Riding opportunities are available for people of all abilities, from beginner to expert. Learning to ride a horse at Agapé is safe and easy. Through use of ramps and platforms, mounting a horse is effortless. While riding the sensory trail on the six-acre farm, two spotters walk on either side of the horse, helping to guide the horse as well as providing physical and emotional support to the rider. More experienced riders may be taken to advanced sensory trails in the 200-acre High Island County Park.
Relationship Building
Agapé Riding Center’s services include more than learning to ride a horse. Fundamental to the Agapé experience is establishing a relationship with the horse from the ground. Through grooming and feeding the horses, individuals form a special bond with the majestic animals. Interaction involved in caring for horses is therapeutic and can build confidence.
Learn about Organic Gardening and Compost
Educational opportunities are endless at the Agapé farm with the chance to work in a natural environment and connect with nature at the most basic level. Individuals can experience organic gardening and tend the garden in the summer months. The farm grows fruits and vegetables in nutrient rich soil with compost made from horse manure. The fresh produce is harvested and consumed by family, visitors and horses.
